K. A. Kennedy, Ed.D.

Kidogo A. Kennedy, Ed.D. is Adjunct Assistant Professor, Vivian A. Ware Fellow 2012 - 2013, at the University of Southern California - Marshall School of Business.  She is a anti-racism, instructional, curricular and programming design expert.  A seasoned communication and education consultant, Dr. Kennedy has assisted thought leaders shape policy, culture and strategic communication around inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA). Her unique educational design incorporates the use of counter-narratives to facilitate deep discussion and meta-cognitive awareness surrounding topics such as bias, racism, stereotype threat and microaggression. Moreover, she amplifies her focus on self-awareness and bias reduction by skillfully infusing evidence-based communication strategies seen to mitigate habitual thinking distortions.

 

A local and internationally received orator, educator and facilitator, Dr. Kennedy utilizes her expertise as an instructional communicator to facilitate understanding across the disciplines of communication, ethnic studies and education. Dr. Kennedy encourages new perspectives and enables profound understandings linked to navigating invisible systems of advantage: namely race, class and gender. In fact, Dr. Kennedy, is well known for her efforts as a critical race orator. She has provided speeches and workshops for several non-profit and academic organizations such as: the American Association of University Women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the National Communication Association, and the Service Employees International Union.
